There are five resources in the world of Vox Imperium:
  • Food - used in the production and maintenance of units and city growth
  • Wood - used mainly in the construction of buildings
  • Metal - used upgrading structures and high-level units
  • Relic - used in the construction of Forts, the rarest resource
  • Gold - used in trade for other resources, pay of troops
All resources except Gold come in three qualities:
  • Poor - basic quality, gathered by workers or cities
  • Good - improved quality, gathered by basic specialist production buildings
  • Rare - highest quality, gathered by advanced specialist production buildings
Obtaining higher quality resources is essential to the expansion of your empire and holding off your numerous enemies. To produce these resources, you must build specialist buildings, which only generate a single type of resource, but do it very well.

Specialist buildings and their production:

  • Farmstead/Farm/Large Farm: Food
  • Logging Camp/Lumbermill/Sawmill: Wood
  • Mining Pit/Quarry/Colliery: Metal
Neither Relic nor Gold has a specialist building and must be gathered by Workers or buildings in the City upgrade chain.

What resources are generated on a particular tile are outlined in the Tile Analysis pane, but in general the five resources are found in the following places:

  • Food: Plains, Rivers, Ocean, Hills, Scrub Hills
  • Wood: Forest, Scrub Hills
  • Metal: Hills, Mountains
  • Relic: Mountains, Deep Ocean
  • Gold: Rivers, Ocean, Mountains
Gold is unique amongst the resources in that it is not gathered in single units, but rather in lots of 10.
